February Touring Schedule

Monday, January 29, 2007 by Christopher Wu

The Chelvites hit the road again tomorrow afternoon!

We'll be headed out towards Arizona and California this time around (I know, I know...real "suffering" for the Lord)

Here's what our schedule looks like. Please pray for us!

Jan. 30th - 1p.m. Leave for Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.
  • Pray for safe travels as we drive cross-country
Feb. 2nd - Arrive in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Concert at 6p.m. for soldiers who just finished basic training.
  • Pray for these soldiers to receive the gospel well. After basic they are worn out and vulnerable.
  • Pray that the seed of God's Word would fall on 'good soil'
Feb. 4th - Concert at 8a.m.; Drive day towards California (We'll be wearing our Colts' shirts! )

Feb. 5th - Drive to Southern California

Feb. 6th - Possible day off

Feb. 7th - Concert at 7:30p.m. at San Luis Obispo. We'll be playing for the students' Crusade meeting. This Crusade movement is several thousand in number I heard!
  • Pray for it to be an effective outreach, not just another concert for Christians at the school to show up to.
  • Pray it would be a strategic concert where Christians can bring their non-Christian friends to hear the gospel.
Feb. 8th - Concert at 12:30p.m. at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo

Feb. 9th - Possible day off

Feb. 10th - 9a.m. to 11p.m. Keynote Vision Dinner. We'll be playing a few songs from our concert set for current and potential donors to catch a vision for what our Keynote bands do for outreaches across this country and abroad.
  • Pray for strength and stamina for this very long day! We're going to need it!
  • Pray for great financial and prayer partnerships to be formed between Keynote and these potential supporters.
Feb. 11-14th - Drive back home to Indianapolis!

We're going to be gone for quite some time, so we'll be tired, weary, and relationships can become strained under such circumstances.
  • Pray for good times in fellowship with each other and also for good times alone apart from each other. Both are equally important out on the road!
  • Pray for boldness and effectiveness in our witness.
  • Pray for divine appointments to speak individually with soldiers and students.
  • Pray for us to keep short accounts with each other
  • Pray for excellence in our music and presentation of the gospel. Pray our concerts would be a credible, quality product that would be attractive to non-believers so they would listen and hear the gospel clearly.
  • Pray for our health
  • Pray for continued safety as each of us take turns driving our bus!
  • Pray our bus wouldn't have major mechanical problems that would hinder us from being able to travel from concert to concert
I'm excited for these next few concerts! It's kind of a bummer that we'll be driving on the day of the superbowl, but hopefully we'll still be able to catch some of it that day. Go Colts!

Thanks friends!

Chasing Elvis Photo Shoot

Monday, January 08, 2007 by Christopher Wu

So our promo shot has been selected for this year, but I'm kind of "eh" about it. I want to know what you think.

Here is our promo shot:

It's nice, but I don't know...to me it doesn't say "we're a cool band". It says that we're fun and smiley, but I'm not sure if I would look at this on a college campus and think, "that's a cool band shot! I want to go see them!"

In contrast, I think this picture says to me, "cool, interesting band". I would look at this poster and say, "huh...cool" and I might be compelled to check it out. But with the above picture, I would just think, "that's nice...random people in front of a building...smiley girl doing a weird leg thing..." I don't want to knock the photo, 'cause it is a nice photo, but it's not my favorite.

Now, what do you think about the picture below?

That's cool, right? It's not like smack me in the face, "wow, I want to see that band." But it looks like a band picture to me and it's interesting. I could totally see our band name fitting right across the top of the purple-ish backdrop and it would look pretty cool.

And here's one last one that I thought was pretty cool too. Try to look at us without the window view and I think there's a lot you could do with this shot. I like the bubble effect a lot. It's cool. Maybe not as compelling as the one above, but still pretty cool.

Anyways, I wanted to collect a variety of comments that I might be able to convey to my band and see if they're willing to think about using another picture for other promotion purposes. It's really our marketing department and Chris Zaugg that makes the final decision, but maybe we can convince them to use another shot if we have enough constructive feedback from outside sources.

SO! Please comment and tell me your thoughts! I'd love to hear!

God is SO creative. I almost cried at some points seeing the beauty of creation. We truly serve an awesome, fun, and creative God. Praise the Lord!
