The Lord's Discipline:

Job 5:17
17"Behold, how (A)happy is the man whom God reproves,
So do not despise the (B)discipline of the Almighty.
Proverbs 3:11
11(A)My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD
Or loathe His reproof,
Revelation 3:19
19'(A)Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and (B)repent.
Psalm 119:75
75I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are (A)righteous,
And that (B)in faithfulness You have afflicted me.
Psalm 94:12
12Blessed is the man whom (A)You chasten, O LORD,
And (B)whom You teach out of Your law;

The penultimate NT passage on the discipline of the Lord:

Hebrews 12:1-13
1Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also (A)lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us (B)run with (C)endurance the race that is set before us,

2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the (D)author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him (E)endured the cross, (F)despising the shame, and has (G)sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3For (H)consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary (I)and lose heart.

4(J)You have not yet resisted (K)to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin;

5and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
"(A)MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD,
NOR (B)FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM;
6(C)FOR THOSE (D)WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES,
AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES."

7It is for discipline that you endure; (E)God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

8But if you are without discipline, (F)of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

9Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we (G)respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to (H)the Father of spirits, and (I)live?

10For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, (J)so that we may share His holiness. (bold mine)

11All discipline (K)for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the (L)peaceful fruit of righteousness.

12Therefore, (X)strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble,

13and (Y)make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather (Z)be healed.

God's ultimate end in disciplining us is "so that we may share His holiness." God 'scourges' us and allows afflictions and these great pains and trials to happen in our lives, "so that we may share His holiness."

To be disciplined is to become more like Him.

Lord, make me the man of integrity You want me to be. I long to have purity and integrity of heart.

1I will sing of steadfast love and justice;
to you, O LORD, I will make music.
2I will ponder the way that is blameless.
Oh when will you come to me?
I will walk with integrity of heart
within my house;
3I will not set before my eyes
anything that is worthless.
I hate the work of those who fall away;
it shall not cling to me.
4A perverse heart shall be far from me;
I will know nothing of evil.
-Psalm 101:1-4

God, I need to cultivate my relationship with You, today. Help me to do that.

In Jesus Name. Amen.

Lord, help me to die today. I need to die to myself...

Die, Chris...die...

"Team Steam"

Sunday, February 12, 2006 by Christopher Wu

So it's been QUITE a week. I don't feel at liberty to divulge all the gory details of the conflict I've had this past week so I'll just say that it's been rough to say the least. Please, please, please pray for me...

Satan is really attacking me and my team right now. He is trying to cause disunity by amplifying petty differences and they are seroius hindrances to us operating together as one, cohesive unit. He's definitely working over time and OH, do I feel it.

She and I are just not seeing eye to eye at all right now and we haven't really resolved our conflict either. We have only acknowledged that there are certainly some major miscommunication problems and probably some deeper issues there as well, on both ends, I guess.

I need patience, I need the Lord, and again I need to remind myself that I need to die-die to self, die to self-justification, die my rights, and the desire to vindicate myself. The Lord has reminded me this week that He is my vindicator. I need to let Him be the one that vindicates me. I need to relinquish control and allow Him room to work.

I am always tyring to make people see me in the right light but sometimes it's just not possible and it's too idealistic of me. The Lord is trying to make things real and help me to realize that people will sometimes just have a wrong perception of me or a serious misunderstanding, and I need to let that go.

But what frustrates me most is how the conflict strikes at the core of what I've been working at with my own boundaries. I feel my boundaries have been breached and I'm not quite sure how to respond to it. I have addressed what she has done and have confronted her and held her accountable for her actions. But how do you do that while dying to yourself and your own sin?!?!?!?!

So please pray for me...I need your prayers. This is a "burden" that I need to share with you. And I hope you will share it with me and uplift me in your prayers.

And please pray for our upcoming tour.

Keynote Summer Project

Monday, February 06, 2006 by Christopher Wu

Keynote is currently taking applications for our student summer project!

We send out about 5 or 6 different bands, compromised of college and/or senior high school students to tour the U.S. or even abroad! Last summer we had a group travel through Australia, which proved to be an amazing opportunity for ministry where over 200 total decisions for Christ resulted from their concerts!

Students come to Keynote headquarters, train for about 3 1/2 weeks and then hit the road for 2 weeks. It's a tremendous time of faith building and using the musical gifts God has given them to serve and build His kingdom!

It is life changing, it is dynamic, it is fulfilling the Great Commission. Please strongly consider it or pass it along to someone who you know may be interested!

As a ministry leader, would you take a moment to consider these three questions?

Do you know any believers who are musical and have a heart for God?

Would you like to see them catch a vision for how they can use this gift to lead others to Christ?

Would you like to see them spend a summer with 45 other musicians who are being trained to use their talents and impact their culture and our world for Jesus Christ?

If so, please encourage them to consider joining us for the Keynote Summer Project (USA).

Galatians 2:20

Sunday, February 05, 2006 by Christopher Wu

This past weekend I had the privilege of attending a PCA (Presbyterian Churches of America) retreat out in Hueston Woods, Ohio (on the border of Indiana).

It was one of those retreats that was unexpectedly amazing, deeply convicting, and profound. What God spoke to me on Saturday was exactly what I needed to hear. He gave me grace to receive it.

Our memory verse for the weekend was from Galatians 2:20:
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
If there was one verse I needed to hear this weekend, it was that one.

Die, Chris, die...that's the gospel. And that is what God is calling me to do. Die to myself and my selfish desires. And come and live the life by faith in Jesus Christ.

All I lay down.
All I must submit to.
All I must not do
All I must do.
All I must obey.
All I must resist.
All I must go after.
All and all.

"Christ is all, and is in all." (Colossians 3:11)

blue sky nine dress rehearsal this Friday

Wednesday, February 01, 2006 by Christopher Wu

Join us at the North Warehouse

Feb. 3rd @ 7pm

I wish all of you were here in Indiana. I would totally love it if you could all come out and see us play before we hit the road!

But as I may have told some of you, we may have the chance to play in upstate N.Y. in the coming months ahead, so if you all want to make the trip, you can totally come up for that! I'll keep you posted.

With that said, please pray for us this week as we continue rehearsing for this Friday.

  • Pray for the logistics of our rehearsal time to be all worked out
  • Pray for our hearts and health this week as the pressure is on
  • Pray for non-believers to come to our show
  • Pray for potential supporters who are coming to our show to catch a vision for what we do and hopefully come on some of our band members' support teams
